A typical turkey sandwich gets transformed with my bold Carrot Slaw on ZERO NET CARB Keto bread!
If you're anything like me, you LOVE a good sandwich. Unfortunately on a Keto diet, cutting out breads and heavy starches are essential. There are ways to enjoy a sandwich without the bread for sure: aka using lettuce as bread, pickles, high fiber wraps, ect.. BUT after a while of using bread substitutes, I just MISSED bread. Period.
On a whim, I decided to run a Google search and to my pleasant surprise, discovered Thin Slim Foods Zero Net Carb Keto Bread!
Could this be true?! How could bread be zero carbs?
After studying the label, it all became clear.. With 7grams of Carbs per slice, they added 7 grams of fiber which means that with the added fiber that the body can't digest, it doesn't count towards the number of carbs that can trigger an insulin response which can take you out of ketosis. The carbs and the fiber "cancel each other out".
Net carbs are the grams of total carbohydrates
in a food minus its grams of total fiber.
I had to give this a try! And wouldn't ya know, Amazon sells Thin Slims Foods;)
Within two days, I had my bread delivered right to my front door and I could not wait to have an actual sandwich again!
Now, mind you, this couldn't be just an ordinary sandwich...
I had made my super flavorful carrot slaw earlier in the week and decided to use it on my sandwich.
Not only did this slaw add a delicious tangy and garlicy flavor, it also added a satisfying crunch that is a 'must' in all my sandwiches!!
This elevated my turkey sandwich in so many wonderful ways.
I've also used this bread for avocado toast which I found myself missing too.

**The texture of this bread is a bit 'spongy' and I found that toasting it made all the difference.
I hope that this blog entry has helped you discover that you can still enjoy a typical bread sandwich on a keto diet.
